LES DEUX ALPES: Summer skiing and boarding is available in Les Deux Alpes from 21 June to Saturday 30 August. Its glacier has 90 hectares of slopes with eight runs, a beginner area and a freestyle area served by 16 lifts

The snowpark, located at 3,400m, covers 18 hectares, and contains half pipes and superpipes dedicated both to beginners and more experienced riders.

Open every day from 7am to 12.30pm, the slopes are accessible from the resort via the Jandri Express cable car.

 

PORTES DU SOLEIL:  The five-day 4th Rock the Pistes festival saw thousands of music fans explore the Portes du Soleil ski area by attending concerts in a different venue each day at the end of last season.

A spokesman for The Klaxons, one of the UK bands taking part in the festival, said the Rock The Pistes gig was among their top five concerts ever.

La Grave concern

The off-piste ski area of La Grave in the French Hautes-Alpes has a unique atmosphere that attracts skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. But, as British ski instructor CHARLOTTE SWIFT explains, a question mark hangs over the future of this sking and snowboarding mecca.

 

NEWS began to emerge recently that the current lease for operating the lift at La Grave will run out in 2017.
