GRINDELWALD: Skiers and snowboarders will get a faster and higher access to both the Eiger Glacier and the Männlichen from the resort if plans to build a new V-shaped cable car system get the go ahead.
The new lifts will cut journey time to the Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest rail station, by up to 47 minutes, more-or-less halving times from Gmund to the Jungfraujoch
A public vote in Grindelwald later this year will decide whether or not the project happens. If it gets the go ahead it could be completed by 2016.
GSTAAD: Guests are being offered the chance to groom the slopes themselves in the resort’s largest sector, the Schönried – Saanenmöser – Zweisimmen area. Starting at 5.30pm, participants can expect to spend 60 – 90 minutes in one of three machines. They will guided by an expert driver and will receive a “grooming diploma” at the end of their shift.
SAAS FEE: A party to celebrate the start of summer skiing is being held over the weekend of 19/20 July 2014.
There’ll be 20km of groomed slopes along with a full feature terrain park incorporating big air bag and chill-out lounge bar. Saas Fee and its neighbour Zermatt, claim to be the only Swiss ski areas open until October.

But take a 5km trip out of town and cross the road bridge that divides Lake Silvaplana and you’ll find Corvatsch, another small but perfectly formed Swiss ski area at 1,870m that lives in the shadow of its illustrious neighbour.
