A company which operates ski holidays for blind skiers is seeking sighted skiers to help them on the slopes.
Traveleyes, now in its 10th year, is an award winning organization specialising in group holidays for both blind and sighted travellers alike.
In 2015 the company are running two skiing trips to Meribel and La Plagne.
Traveleyes spokesman Sam Thorpe said: “For our blind skiers to enjoy the freedom of the slopes, we need to recruit more sighted skiers to act as guides for the trip. No experience of blindness is necessary and Traveleyes will provide the full training needed to all volunteers taking part. Sighted travellers are not expected to act as carers.”
In return for being the eyes for our blind skiers, a sighted guide not only enjoys an unforgettable and highly rewarding experience, but can also enjoy all that the resort has to offer, for less than half the price you would normally expect to pay.
The primary function of Traveleyes is to enable blind people to enjoy independent world travel on their own terms.
The company donates the funding required to restore eyesight in a child or an adult with preventable blindness in some of the world’s poorest countries for every booking taken.
